Good review. The film, as a film, is very boring. There are many discrepancies in it. The father of the girl leading jamaath prayer in the house for example. As Nathersa said, no Muslim girl goes to college with white thuppatti. And the choice of subject — Tamil literature – is also not realistic. That the father first accepts their love, consents to their marriage and then suddenly leaves Nagore in order to avoid Lenin is also absurd.
But it is possible for a Muslim girl to fall in love with a non-Muslim boy. We cannot rule out that possibility. One cannot say that such a plot is a plot against Islam. Cheran and co asked many details from me regarding Nagore culture. I was present on the first day of the shooting in Gopichettipalayam hospital, which is shown as Chennai hospital. I even taught Padmapriya how to put on thuppati!
Cheran in the movie looks aged and Padmapriya has acted excellently, apart from the cultural point of view of Nathersa and the thematic confusions in the movie. Especially when she weeps on hearing the death of Lenin.
